Crypto Hack Losses Plummet 85% in October 2025 Amid Evolving Threats
Cryptocurrency security saw a dramatic improvement in October 2025, with hack-related losses plunging 85.7% to $18.18 million across 15 incidents. This marks the lowest monthly theft volume of the year, down sharply from September's $127.06 million.
The decentralized finance sector absorbed the heaviest blows. Garden Finance suffered a $10 million exploit, while Typus Finance and Abracadabra lost $3.4 million and $1.8 million respectively. These three attacks accounted for nearly all October's stolen value.
Security analysts warn against complacency. North Korean-linked hacking collectives continue refining attack vectors, suggesting the relative calm may prove temporary. Blockchain forensic firm PeckShield confirmed the downward trend but emphasized that threat sophistication keeps escalating.
